Ariel 1942 W/NG
This genuine 1942 WW2 Ariel W/NG was purchased by us in a largely restored condition. We have completed the necessary commissioning works and it now starts, runs and rides really nicely.
The motorcycle has frame numbers is XG 32741 and the Dating Certificate supplies by the seller confirms it was part of a contract for 3,500 W/NG’s dated 12th March 1942 and delivered to Chilwell Ordnance Depot on 7th December 1942. Frame numbers were XG 31,751 to 35,250 and were allocated C numbers C 4812104 to C4815603.
The bike comes with a current V5C, registration XXG 489 and is registered as a Historic Vehicle and is therefore free from road tax and MOT exempt. The registration number is recorded as being non-transferable.
As part of the commissioning, we have completed the wiring and the lights, brake light and horn all work. The oil pump has been removed and cleaned and the oil returns freely to the oil tank. The petrol tank has also been flushed; corks in the petrol tap replaced and new rubber petrol pipes fitted. Please note there is currently no speedo or field stand fitted and the bike is fitted with one toolbox rather than the usual two.
The Ariel W/NG is a rare motor cycle and far fewer have survived than the equivalent BSA M20 or Matchless G3L. This is because they were sold off soon after the war to a transport hungry public.
Please look carefully at the photos as what you see is what you get. Feel free to ask as many questions as you wish and we will do our best to answer. We also welcome inspection by prior arrangement and are located approximately 30 miles west of London. We can arrange shipping or delivery World Wide at the buyers’ expense but please do contact us for a quotation before bidding. Please note there is no VAT or other fees in addition to the purchase price with the exception of any delivery arranged at the owners expense.
