SOLD - AJS Model 31/CSR Street Tracker/Desert Sled

£4,000.00

For sale here is our Competition inspired 1960 AJS Model 31/ CSR Street Tracker/Desert Sled. This is a great looking bike which can be used in the mud or just riding to the pub.  The bike starts and runs well but will need a shake down and tuning. we have only started and run it up the road. You can view it on our Instagram or facebook pages at Toolboxlifestyle.  The engine was restored by the previous owner and runs smoothly and has been fitted with an alternator crankshaft to allow for more reliable lighting but a rota or stator are not currently fitted.  Both primary and drive chains are new. The carburettor are newly refurbished and magneto recently overhauled by Tony Cooper.  The gearbox selects all gears and has a smooth action.  The forks have been rebuilt and have a smooth action and wheels are fitted with brand new Ensign Trials Universal tyres.  The brakes feel good and work well.  Scrambles handlebars are fitted with ball end levers and new cables all round.  The 2 gallon petrol tank is an original factory competition steel CS type and is NOT an Indian made copy but has been modified by a previous owner to possible fit a GP carb or similar .  Cosmetically the bike is not pristine and there are some marks on the tank but the frame and other black painted parts have been painted recently.  The wheel rims appear to be original and the chrome on the front wheel rim is poor.  Buyers should note that although we have ridden the bike locally we have not put significant miles on it and as befits a newly built bike it will require running in and the usual shakedown mileage. The Last photo is how we acquired the bike.Frame number A73121 confirms the bike is a genuine CSR which left the factory in February 1960.  The engine number is 59/31 CSR 09931 and although a genuine CSR engine is a year earlier than the frame. The registration number is 392 XWB (non-transferable).  The new V5C confirms it is registered for historic class with an age related number (free) and tax and MOT exempt. Included in the paperwork is an AJS & Matchless Owners Club Dating Certificate confirming it left the factory in February 1960.Please feel free to ask questions before bidding.  We also welcome inspection by prior arrangement and are located approximately 30 miles west of London.  We can arrange shipping or delivery World Wide at the buyers’ expense but please do contact us for a quotation before bidding.  Please note there is no VAT or other fees in addition to the purchase price with the exception of any delivery arranged at the owners expense.
