Norton 16h 1942

This 1942 Norton 16h was repatriated by me from Normandy in 2012 some 68 years after it got left behind after D Day.  It was very sympathetically restored by the previous owner in France and retains many of the original scars of war.  It has not been used for several years but it has recently been recommissioned by us and fully serviced and put back on the road.

The bike was supplied under the War Office contract C.1246 dated 28th January 1942.  The contract was for 6,000 machines and deliveries commenced from August 1942 at the rate of 1,600 per month.  The number on the petrol tank is the army registration number that it would have had during the war.

Norton 16h’s are rare machines but as this is an original bike that is known to have taken part in the Normandy campaign it is exceptionally rare.
